RIP to DMX, Hip-Hop artist extraordinaire who passed away suddenly at the age of 50. The initial reports claimed that he may have overdosed on drugs, but other reports exclaim that he had just taken the vaccine! If that turns out to be true, then it would also make him the 3rd high profile African-American man to die suspiciously this year. The first was Hall of Fame home-run King Hank Aaron in January. He was followed by former Champion Boxer Marvelous Marvin Hagler in March. Now (first week of April) it was multi-platinum record rapper DMX (Earl Simmons). None of these deaths can be attributed 100% or anything, but they did all happen shortly after these men took the controversial and experimental medical injection. The word on the streets was that DMX chose to take the jab in order to be eligible to perform again publicly (once Covid restrictions were lifted). Unfortunately for all his fans (including me to some degree), there won’t be any more tours from this man again.
While I wasn’t the biggest Hip-Hop follower in the 21st century, I like a little bit of everything and used to enjoy this jam a lot back in the day. It was a gigantic hit single during my ‘clubbing’ phase in my 20’s. And one of the very few songs that could get me pumped enough to get out on the dance floor. Thanks for the memories Earl, hope you find your peace and enjoy the other side. Party on!
This was about the end of an era for me. I was a much bigger fan of rap music from the 20th century, the earlier the better generally. It was fun, it was real, and it was even cerebral.
