“Now that I understand this right.
Let me take it to the mic.
This revolution has just begun.”
Interesting piece of music history here from ‘Tricky.’ Apparently this was supposed to be his big ‘Hollywood’ record that would make him a huge radio star 20 years ago in 2001. Unfortunately, his ‘new sound’ resulted in a substantial loss of his fan base for ‘selling out’ I suppose. Ironically, the album is called ‘Blowback,’ and the first song actually featured Alanis Morissette… ironically. I remember liking that single from back in those days, but knew nothing else about ‘Tricky’ or his music past or future until discovering this second song last week. It also happens to be the second song on the album, and features Ed Kowalczyk from the band ‘Live.’ Maybe it sounded too ‘commercialized’ back then, but I think it holds up today just fine. Like a fine wine? Maybe it was just ahead of its time?
