Foreclosure of a Dream?

Can you put a price on peace? Dave Mustaine must have pondered that question before he wrote it into the lyrics of the classic Megadeth masterpiece; Peace Sells.” It was released exactly 35 years and 3 days ago to be precise (September 19th, 1986). Like many musicians, Dave is also an activist and placed messages in his albums and lyrics. However, he has been far more visionary than most, with much of his material very relevant today. He was even on stage last week speaking out about tyranny and mask mandates! It’s about a minute and a half clip here before he fires up his guitar again…

My favorite Megadeth song is probably Foreclosure of a Dream from 1992 when I was a teenager first getting into Heavy Metal. However, I had no idea what the song was actually about until today, nearly 30 years later after watching the video for the first time! Does it still hold up in the year 2021? It sure seems that way, but please have a look and listen for yourself:

By the way, did you catch the National Debt clock towards the end of the track? If Dave Mustaine thought it was worrisome back then, I wonder what he thinks about it now? Here is a screenshot comparison from the video vs. the one I just grabbed from the US Debt Clock website:

Wow, it’s multiplied over 7 times in less than 30 years! How and when will this end?
