Thursday night, solo desk, supposedly a “tight one” (it ran 79 minutes, sue me). The thesis: everybody wants to “fight back,” but nobody wants to be held accountable. The FBI hands a teenager a rifle and calls it a save. The President tells Minnesota to “fight back.” And the guy who promised to drain the swamp says he went easy on Hillary, Biden and Obama “out of respect for the presidency.” Meanwhile, saying “AI” makes you the enemy. Hello, fellow enemies.
Welcome to The Gonzo Lounge. Criticism of policy, named officials, named defendants and named gangs is not an attack on any ethnic or religious group as a class. Charged isn’t convicted. Questions aren’t verdicts. I date theories. I don’t marry them.
Topics on Today’s Gonzo Lounge:
- Super Intelligence or bust. Trump posts that anyone saying “artificial intelligence” instead of “Super Intelligence” is “THE ENEMY.” Melania, take the phone. He needs a nap.
- Mall of America plot. An 18-year-old Richfield man, a US-born citizen of Somali descent, was arrested after allegedly buying an AK-47 from an undercover FBI employee posing as ISIS, following about two years of contact with an informant. Charged by complaint, not convicted. Stopped plot or built plot? Asking about entrapment is a question, not a ruling.
- “Fight back, Minnesota.” Trump’s Truth Social post, Keith Ellison’s “drag him back to court” reply, and Twin Cities chiefs on gang shootings. Policy critique (assimilation, task forces, charging, guns) is fair game. Blame individuals and policy, not an entire community.
- Ellison: “be ready… take to the streets” if votes are “taken away.” He also said he believes in peaceful, First Amendment protest. The quote comes from a podcast clip as transcribed by right-leaning outlets.
- “I could have done very bad things.” Trump says he held back on Hillary, Biden and Obama. MTG calls it a “public plea deal” (her opinion). Trust-the-plan threads get a reality check.
- Kimberly Guilfoyle’s “honey please” texts. WSJ and ABC report she asked donor Eric Deters to wire $100K to her AmEx before her confirmation. Her lawyer disputes the messages; Deters says he never paid.
- NYT: Huckabee aide David Milstein, Mark Levin’s stepson, allegedly blocked or softened embassy cables critical of Israel. Reported allegations; no charges. “Treason” talk online is opinion.
- Massie and James O’Keefe’s redacted warrant. Brian Cole Jr. (Jan. 6-eve pipe bombs) is charged, has pleaded not guilty, and goes to trial in Feb 2027.
- Gas and Hormuz. The strait is choked and refineries are offline (Dallas Fed). Oil companies are profiting off the crisis, but the evidence says they didn’t cause it.
- Cataclysm Corner: Noah’s Ark or alien spacecraft (unconfirmed, but a win-win), Egypt’s great flood, and moon bunkers for the elites. Speculation, clearly labeled.

Desk Corrections
- The police chief quoted on gang wealth is Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges, not Minneapolis.
- Guilfoyle’s alleged ask was $100,000. Per reporting, the $300,000 Deters mentioned was paid over the years, including speaking fees. She and Don Jr. split in 2024, and nothing reported suggests an affair.
- Brian Cole Jr.: the FBI says he confessed. His defense says the interrogation was coercive and he has pleaded not guilty. Whether he did it is for the jury; this desk’s “no way that’s the guy” was opinion.
- Venezuela’s heavy crude is refined at several US Gulf Coast refineries, not just one in Houston. The US is the world’s top oil producer and a net petroleum exporter, though it still imports crude.
- The Renee Good and Alex Pretti shootings are still under review by Hennepin County with no charging decision. Federal accounts of both are disputed by video, per NPR.
